Broadcasting is an ever-changing business, therefore, it's never too difficult to find an issue to discuss. Honestly, deciding on an topic is more exhausting than thinking of one to begin with.
In today's world, people seem to be more interested in minuscule events that are irrelevant to their own lives. For example, I'm sure that any of my readers could tell me more about Justin Bieber's DUI than what's going on in Iran right now. As Bieber follows the exact path that every guy predicted, I have one mind-bending question: WHO THE HELL CARES? There were 214,828 DUIs in the state of Florida alone in 2013, so why does this particular one matter? While there are countries around the world threatening to blow us all up, we are flocking to aid a twenty-year-old pot head who put other people's lives in danger by drinking and driving.
This issue stems from people's ignorance to the world around them. In this case, ignorance is not bliss. Not knowing what's happening in the world is a danger to the American people, as we are made easier targets. In the words of James Madison, "The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty." In other words, our right to knowledge protects our liberties, and we take it for granted. Instead of being concerned with Miley's or Bieber's next scandal, Americans need to read a newspaper, watch an informative news station other then E!, and get their online news from somewhere other than Buzzfeed.

Introducing Me
Howdy readers,
My name is Brandon Clingman, and I am currently a junior at Texas A&M University. I am a Telecommunications and Media Studies major with a minor in Business Administration, hoping to work for a broadcasting network in New York someday. At A&M, I am a chair in the Student Senate, a member of the Student Governance Council, a host for Muster, a staff assistant for the Big Event, a director for the Interfraternal Council, a campaign manager for the upcoming Student Body President elections, and am involved in the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. I love being involved, and staying busy keeps me organized and on top of things. With this blog, I intend to share my opinions on current events and public figures. I'm looking forward to this blogging experience!
